Albert Einstein once said, “A human being is a part of the 
whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
While I don’t necessary agree with the esteemed physicist’s assertion of what our task should be, he is right about how we experience Time in our own physical universe. This was the topic of a very deep conversation between myself and a friend earlier this week.
I thought back to that conversation as I reviewed today’s news. From every corner of the world, it seems that mankind is racing toward – Time’s conclusion. In the meantime, we are so fully encompassed in our “Optical Delusion” that we are caught up in the torrent of events.
Mankind is so entrenched in Time, we can’t seem to get out of the river of Time and take stock of the world’s circumstances. And, the same can be said for our personal lives.
Whether it be work, family, relationships, etc., we are also fully invested in Time. So much so that it is nearly impossible for individuals to step back and assess where their lives are going.
In our conversation, my friend and I discussed another conversation with a mutual friend. That friend spoke about how he thought things in bible prophecy should have culminated by now. He wondered if there were some outside force (aside from God) that had manipulated Time.
There has been much discussion about Time manipulation. One of my favorite articles is by Terrance Aym and discusses a physicist’s assertions that HAARP is being used to manipulate Time. In addition, the Philadelphia Experiment in the 1940’s was real and appeared to have Time manipulation implications.
These are but two examples of how time could indeed have been changed. Yet we have not even addressed other scientific experiments that have occurred on a broad scale such as the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva or other various time travel experiments.
However, perhaps the most important clues about the times we live in can be taken from Daniel 7:25 where the Antichrist “will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.” (Emphasis added.)
So the crazy esoteric question is… “Is this what is happening now?”
Could it be that without our knowledge, Time has been changed right under our noses? Surely we are seeing how laws are being changed, but what about something as intangible as Time?
Certainly there is no way to prove such a postulation, but it does seem evident that Time is coming to a conclusion. Life as we know it is changing and there is little we can do to stop it.
While we wrap ourselves in our daily lives, trying to ignore this change, we too are swept into the stream of Time that threatens to wash us up into an ocean of the unknown.
So how do you cope? Does your stomach turn at the thought of everything you knew, our society, our country and the world, being carried away by a tsunami of change? Do you hide in your daily life for fear of looking at the reality of our times?
Make no mistake, whether we look change square in the face, or we bury our proverbial heads in the sand, Time marches on and change, drastic change, is coming. How should you react?
The key is to seek the One who stands outside of Time. He is the One who knows the beginning from the end and… every hair on your head.
Although we are “imprisoned” by the “Optical Delusion” of our physical reality, we need not fear how Time will play out.
That is because, the One who created Time stands outside of Time and is unaffected by it. He is the Ancient of Days and He wants to give you peace that surpasses all understanding – especially in uncertain times like these.
Do you know Him? If you know Him – do you trust Him? If not, then there is no better Time to lie at His feet and search Him out.
In the end… He is the only shelter in the midst of Time’s storm.
